ILLEGAL E-BIKES AND SCOOTERS Fifty people were charged during a three-week crackdown on the illegal use of e-bikes and scooters in Aberdeen. Police say they also seized more than 40 vehicles during Operation Armour. Operation Armour – which ran from May the 18th until last Friday – saw officers crack down on illegal electric bikes and scooters in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour and other crimes associated with them. 154 crimes were detected, including dangerous driving, no licence or insurance, driving on footpaths, and not wearing a helmet – as well as drug offences. Five electric motorbikes, 19 e-bikes, 15 e-scooters, five petrol motorbikes, a car and a van were seized. The force says while long-term sustainable solutions to the issues caused by the bikes and scooters are being sought, it will continue to seize them, identify riders and report them to the relevant authorities.
