Munro | Morag > SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2007 Halò a-rithist a h-uile duine! Tha mi air ais air a’ choimpiutair … ho-ho. I’m starting to get the hang of this blogging business and not before time, mind! Would you believe it?! Munro just called me a ‘geek’! I think I’ll have to look that up in the dictionary as I don’t remember Dwelly telling us that one. What a wonderful time we enjoyed in Lochaber. We heard some great songs and music at the Mòd, and it was wonderful to hear so much Gaelic in and around Fort William when we were there. I think it all did us good to be a bit more immersed in a Gaelic-friendly environment, and I noticed Munro’s Gaelic come on in leaps and bounds. I just wish he’d push himself a wee bit more, the boy. He’s got an ear for the music and the sound of it, so he could do really well. If only he’d unplug his peapod or whatever they call it. All these techno gadget things, and most of them named after living, growing fruits and vegetables. Oh dear, oh dear. I don’t think our modern world is as modern as it thinks it is. Feumaidh mi falbh. Tha e a’ fàs anmoch agus tha an t-acras orm. Feumaidh mi mo dhìnnear ithe! All of a sudden, he was interested. The MacDonald clan came here about 500 years ago and killed over 800 people. It’s terrible to think of all that bloodshed in such a beautiful area. Mar sin leibh an-dràsta, Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 08:44 AM - 0 COMMENTS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2007 Halò a-rithist! Tha mi air ais. Chunnaic sinn dealbh-cluich ann an Tobar Mhoire. That’s right. We saw a play the other night at the Aros Hall in Tobermory. It was all about a young man returning to the last working croft on his island after his father passes. In a small way, this trip has been a little bit like that, as I introduce Munro to my Highlands and Islands while I’m still fit enough to make the most of it. I’m definitely not dead yet!! Ho-ho! Ceart ma tha. Tha mi falbh! Tìoraidh an-dràsta, Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 19:48 PM - 0 COMMENTS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2007 Dè tha dol? A bheil sibh uile gu math? Tha mise gu dòigheil, tapadh leibh! Bha sinn ann an Ìle agus ann am Muile. We’ve been in Islay and Mull over the last week or so. I’ve been exploring the distilleries for which Islay is so famous. Morag accompanied me and Brochan sat in outside. It’s just as well I wasn’t having to drive – I couldn’t help but enjoy a wee sample or two! Purely for medicinal purposes, I assure you! There were some lovely peaty flavours on the south coast of the island, while there were a few lighter flavours towards the north. It was fascinating to see how the whole process works. The distilleries use things like bourbon, wine and sherry casks to add flavour. Ceart. Tha am pathadh orm fhathast! Tìoraidh! I’ll be very sorry to leave such a fabulous part of Scotland. The islands are all beautiful in their own different ways and the mainland areas of Argyll are just stunning. I was just saying that to Morag the other day, and she quite agreed with me. I think Dwelly has one more surprise lined up for us next month. I have no idea where we’re going, but I’m sure we’ll find out in dramatic fashion! Mar sin leibh! Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 19:48 PM - 0 COMMENTS |
