Munro | Morag > MONDAY, 18 JUNE, 2007 Halò a h-uile duine, agus ciamar a tha sibh uile? An dòchas gu bheil sibh gu math! Tha mise gu dòigheil agus tha An Aghaidh Mhòr math fhèin. Tha mo Ghàidhlig a' tighinn air adhart, nach eil? Now although there is no shortage of things to do in Aviemore I'm still finding time to catch up with my Gaelic lessons. I must say, I am thoroughly enjoying it. I even read an old saying that they had in Gaelic that I thought was very apt for our month in Aviemore. It was "Rùn do chridhe air do chuisle" which means, "May your pulse beat as your heart would wish". Isn't that rather apt? We are as busy as little bees in Aviemore and the younger ones were talking of going to Loch Insh to do a spot of windsurfing or sailing of some sort and although I'm not really wanting to be going boating I may do a spot of rod fishing whilst we're there. By all accounts it's a very good day out. Morag suggested visiting The Highland Folk Museum and it was rather interesting - I think Morag was in need of a day or two of non-outdoor activities. Munro Jnr is keen to go up the Cairngorm Mountain and the Funicular Railway, he always does like the easy option when it comes to mountains! Anyway I’d better go, lots of things to do and places to see. A "steam and a stroll" were the day's events and how I enjoyed that! We took the Strathspey Steam Railway from Aviemore up to Boat of Garten - The Osprey Village - and then we walked the 12 miles back to Aviemore. It was a wonderful day out altogether and I love the old steam train, it reminded me of days gone by. The stroll was just fantastic, we explored part of Strathspey Way and I made sure we had plenty of supplies for lunch. I'm sure Morag even enjoyed it and Mel was full of beans as usual. We are going to the Kincraig Wildlife Park tomorrow as they have an event called Scotland's Wildlife: Past and Present on all week. I think this entails a walk or a drive around the reserve to see red squirrel, wildcat and capercaillie at home alongside species extinct from Scotland like the bison, lynx and wolf. Now doesn't that sound enthralling? I think myself and Brochan are going to settle in just nicely here! Beannachd leibh, Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 20.00 PM - 0 COMMENTS SATURDAY, 2 JUNE, 2007 Halò a-rithist! Ciamar a tha sibh? Tha mise uabhasach, uabhasach math! Ah yes, here we are in Aviemore and I must tell you all that this place is wonderful. They say that Fort William is the Outdoor Capital of the UK but Aviemore must come a close second. I just want to spend all my time outdoors here. The mountains, Am Monadh Ruadh, the river, the wildlife, the steam train, the funicular train, the Kincraig Wildlife Park, the whiskey, the food - I just love it all! I feel like I've finally found my heartland, the home of my ancestors! Will write back soon - I'm off out for a ramble or a scramble. Ah yes...I'm home.
