Halò!

Nothing like a good Highland Games! We went to the Lewis Highland Games on Saturday, and what a day it was! The events went very well. (Although, if I were just a few years younger, some might have turned out differently!)

There was something there for everyone. I know Morag got a bit carried away with all that was on offer. Melodaidh had a good time, with all the new experiences, and Munro Jr was just in his element!

We also went to see the Callanish Standing Stones. I must say, they’re impressive. I’m told some are 5 metres tall, what ever that is. They looked about 16 foot or so to me.

Everyone was standing around wondering how such a thing could have been done long before diggers and earth-moving machines and the like. They wouldn’t believe me when I said it was just a bit of good old-fashioned elbow grease! Munro Jr looked as if the very suggestion alone would knock him over!

Madainn mhath, a chàirdean. Ciamar a tha sibh? Tha cùisean a’ dol gu math an seo!

The Hebridean Celtic Festival started yesterday. There’s a “tremendous atmosphere.” That’s what they tell me anyway. I don’t know how you’re supposed to hear the music, with all the noise that’s going on around you.

Still, Melodaidh and Munro Jr seem to be having a good time of it, and Morag seems to be enjoying herself too. Anyway, I have Brochan to keep me company, so I’ll be fine.

We’ve been touring around all the islands. I wanted to walk from one end to the other, but apparently there wasn’t enough time to do that and see the whole area. What’s a better way of seeing it then walking through it?

We visited Taigh Chearsabhagh when we went to North Uist. There was an exhibit telling us to look after the planet, and not to litter. I don’t really understand all this global warming. Surely that’ll just mean better weather? Munro tried to explain it to me, but I didn’t understand half of what he was saying. Carbon footprint? I keep my boots clean!

Anyway, Brochan is looking hungry. He obviously hasn’t found where I hid the crisps!

Tìoraidh an-dràsta,

Seanair

Halò! Tha sinn an seo anns na h-Eileanan Siar! Tha mi an dòchas gu bheil sibh uile a’ cumail gu math!

We spent a pleasant day on the wonderful beaches yesterday. They reminded me of the holidays I used to have when I was young. No international flights in those days! I know Morag especially enjoyed the nice relaxing time. Brochan had fun getting himself (and most of us!) soaked in the sea! Daft dog!

Morag and Melodaidh seem pretty excited about the all the history of the area. I wouldn’t mind learning a bit of it myself, but I think I need to find a good hill walk for us first! The fresh air and exercise makes learning so much easier. That’s what I always say anyway!
