Munro | Morag > SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2007 I never thought I'd see the day I'd be going to a cèilidh up a mountain but that's what we did last night! Morag turned slightly green on the gondola and to be honest I'm not really a fan myself. I much prefer to be striding up the mountain with brochan than dangling from a cable car. But the cèilidh was good enough, you can't beat proper dance music. Next stop is Portree....aaah, the Cuillins. I can hardly wait! Well, well, what a packed week we've had this week what with the Mountain Film Festival and all. They really have some very interesting exhibitions and lectures. We went to a super display of Frank Hurley's photographs from Shackleton's 1914-16 Endurance expedition to Antarctica. It was just splendid. Munro said he knew exactly how Shackleton felt, being stuck like that …. Not sure what he meant? Anyway, they're having a Cèilidh up Aonach Mor this Friday, apparently we have to go on the gondola to get there. Probably just as well for Morag and Munro Jr!!! Will report back after our wee hoolie. Bye Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 09.09 AM - 0 COMMENTS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2007 We had a very nice couple of days at the weekend, so we did. Morag was a bit stiff after our big climb so we decided to take a trip on the train to Mallaig. We stopped off at Glenfinnan which was very interesting indeed. I even managed a walk or two. Tonight, myself and Morag are going to go for a wee bite to eat, I think the young ones are going to go to the climbing wall or something...I've never heard the like - climbing wall indoors?!! Anyway, must go and get a wee bit spruced up..... Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 17.45 PM - 0 COMMENTS TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2007 Sin thu fhèin! Aaah, what a wonderful climb we had on the Ben. The views down Loch Linnhe were just spectacular, they really took Morag and Melodaidh's breath away. Although I think Melodaidh was also a bit breathless keeping up with me! Myself and Brochan showed them all! We had to take the easy route up the Ben via Meall an t-Suidhe just for the sake of the others. Personally, I'd have prefered to go via Carn Mòr Dearg as the views are even more spectacular on that side but when you've got amateurs in your group, you really must take the safest route. Nonetheless, it was a grand day altogether. Bye Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 21.06 PM - 0 COMMENTS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2007 Well, that's us arrived in Fort William and I've already passed my old friend, Ben. Ben Nevis, that is, ho ho ho! Yes, I can't wait to get up there again. I've done it a few times before, you know, and Melodaidh seems to be keen to race me to the summit this time. She probably thinks I'm just an old timer but I am still as fit as a fiddle, you know. Munro isn't so keen to get outdoors and he hasn't taken his MP3 thingy-me-jiggy off all day. Hopefully, the fresh air this week will blow away his cobwebs! We'll finally get Munro walking a Munro! Well, better be getting going. Tìoraidh an-dràsta (That means ‘Cheerio for now’ – aaah, I love the Gaelic!) Seanair POSTED BY SEANAIR AT 12.45 PM - 0 COMMENTS |
