Munro | Morag > THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 2007 Hàlo a-rithist! We’ve all been out and about, exploring all that’s been going on. There was a golf tournament on at Nairn Golf Club the other day. Unfortunately, it was for teams of four, and I couldn’t get the others interested enough. Still, I went along as a spectator and saw some good golf being played. It sparked an interest in me, and I ended up playing a few holes myself. I must say, it was good! I used to play when I was a lad, on holiday visiting my uncle, where he would take me to the local course. I haven’t played much since, but I think a bit of the old magic is still there! Of course, that daft dog kept running around and moving my balls! Didn’t do my handicap any good! There was also a nice cèilidh dance on the following night. I really enjoy cèilidhs, and this was no exception! A ‘Strip-the-Willow’ and a ‘Dashing White Sergeant’ or two was enough for me, though. I didn’t want to upstage Munro too much; not when he was busy trying to show off his two left feet! Jazz music isn’t much older than myself you know, and I must say that I’m quite fond of it. I even managed to stay up with the younger ones for a couple of the late nights, although I did feel the effects in the morning. Still, even then I was up and about long before the rest! As much as I enjoy it, I couldn’t just sit back and listen to music for a week! So I also gave the Scottish 6-Day Orienteering Championships a go. I took Brochan along, too. We had a very good time, rambling around the countryside. I’m not sure how much Brochan understood of what was going on, and he wondered off in all sorts of directions. Still, I think at one point we actually ended up taking a short cut, so maybe he knew more than he was letting on! There was also the Anagach Woods Open day on the 8th. I’m not sure why it was called the “woods open day,” they’re not closed the rest of the time, but there you go. There were some good activities and games and things for us to enjoy. I think I’ve spent long enough on this computer. Even with all the practice I’ve been getting, I’m still quite slow at this typing business.
