Melodaidh Brochan

TUESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2007

Tha mi air a bhith a’ ruith mun cuairt às dèidh an còignear a tha sin fad na mìos! It’s not easy keeping up with them, running around to all the different things they’ve been doing, and imparting more Gaelic knowledge upon them!

Morag managed to tell me what she had been doing, what she was doing when I popped up, and what she planned to do after that … one of my best students.

The Jazz Festival was really successful, and they all had a good time! Melodaidh took Munro to see the Luminescent Orchestrii, which they both enjoyed. I’m not sure which Munro preferred, the music, or the fact that Melodaidh asked him to join her! Music might not have been the only thing in the air! Ho ho!

The “Links to the Past and Present” went down really well with Morag. She’ll just devour anything to do with history and culture, that girl! Melodaidh seemed to have a good time too, and Seanair seemed to know about most of what was going on already. Still, if you’re wanting to know about history, who’s going to know more than someone who was there?!

Hard as he tried, Seanair couldn’t get the rest interested enough in golf to make a team with him for the tournament that was held at the Nairn Golf Club. Still, I’m sure he enjoyed playing himself, even if it wasn’t competitive.

And of course, what trip would be complete without a cèilidh? There was one the other night, which everyone enjoyed! Even young Munro seemed to have a good time! Whether that was anything to do with the cèilidh, or more to do with his dance partner, is another matter entirely!

Feumaidh sinn an t-àite àlainn a tha seo fhàgail. Ach, na gabh dragh, bidh sinn ann an àite ùr eile an ath mhìos!

Mar sin leibh!

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2007

Fàilte mhòr dhan a h-uile duine! Tha mi an dòchas gu bheil cùisean a’ dol gu math agaibh! Tha sinn ann an Inbhir Narann a-nis, is tha tòrr rudan a’ tachairt!

A big welcome to you all! I hope you’re all doing well! We’re in Nairn this week, and there’s an awful lot going to be happening!

To start things off, there’s the Nairn International Jazz Festival. It’s an eight-day event, celebrating some of the finest jazz musicians there are! Our adventurers really are in for a treat, experiencing what I think is some really great music. But then, maybe they can’t hear the magic in it! Ho ho!

There’s plenty to keep Seanair quiet, with the Scottish 6-Day International Orienteering Championships, plenty of walks, and even a golf tournament! Brochan will be run off his feet trying to keep up. Oh well!

This is a particularly musical month for our adventurers. Not only is there the International Jazz Festival, there are also a number of concerts playing, including a group called the Luminescent Orchestrii from New York.

For Morag, there are some really good historical events on. One is the “Links to the Past and Present”, which studies Nairn’s history for the past 150 years. Another is “From Celts to Kings”, which looks at historical characters from all the ages, who feature in Nairn’s history. She’ll be well educated by the end of the month … and it will remind me of some much-missed old friends. Aaah, memories!

Really, there’s plenty for everyone to be getting on with! Including me!

Tìoraidh an-dràsta!

Dwelly
