James's Story

James Newell joined the Grenadier Guards aged 14 on the 28-10-1912. He served in France from 9-4-1917 until he returned to England on the 23-8-1918. He was discharged 10-12-1918 as 'No longer physically fit for War Service' due to deafness attributable to active service.
