Charles William Thomas's Story

Charles, my Uncle, was born in Bromley, Poplar in London on 4th.March 1895. He was the first son of W.C. and J.M.Dicks and lived in Eastbourne Road East Ham.Before joining the army he was a Printers Assistant and had two brothers and Four sisters. He was killed in Bernefey Woods on the Somme on 15th July 1916 and although like many thousands of other poor souls his body was not found his name is inscribed on the Thiepval Memorial.
