Lincoln Ewart's Story

Lincoln Ewart Hanson (Regimental No. 17900) joined the 15th Royal Scots on 3 October 1914. On 1 July 1916 he was wounded on the Somme by shellfire. He was in several military hospitals, including Trouville and Etaples, and eventually ended up spending some months in Warncliffe War Hospital, Sheffield. He was considered to be 20% disabled but continued to serve until the end of the war. As a result of his injuries, Lincoln walked with a limp for the rest of his life. He died in the 1970s.
