William's Story
My great grandfather was given 5 days leave for saving the lives of 2 soldiers. It was not until he got back to his own lines that he found out that one of the soldiers he saved was his own son – Lance Corporal RHP Turnbull.
Sadly, his son died from the wounds he received.
Whilst on leave in October 1916, my great grandfather was hit by a tram, had his skull fractured, and died.
