Thomas's Story

I remember my grandmother talking about her beloved father. He died at the battle of Cambrai on 22nd November 1917, just one day after my grandmother's 12th birthday leaving behind four children. She particularly loved his big moustache and his Scottish accent. He was a member of the Royal Irish Rifles, a regiment which is not listed above.
