Gordon Stewart's Story

My Grandfather was awarded the Military Cross, I am very proud of him. They were in a battle and the Germans were forcing them to retreat. Some of his comrades were trapped in a shell hole so he went back and fought the Germans off enabling his comrades to escape to safety.

He was a lovely man, a watch repairer and cobler, later he worked at the local engineering firm manufacturing piston rings.
