Peter's Story

Peter Laing died leaving 7 young children. His eldest son Alexander was then killed 4 days before the signing of the armistice. Peters and his best man had made a pact that if one died and one survived the other would bring up the children. As Peter's wife died in 1919 his best man then went on to raise my father and his brothers and sisters. That is what we call a sacrifice as he only had one child of his own. We owe a great debt of thanks to David Gaitshill and his wife.
