Hey, it's a bit rich of Radio 4 to give knitting a hard time for not having a sexy image! Of course, the Today programme is the sexiest thing on radio isn't it? Bear in mind, all the thousands of people who are going to send you their knitting, after that challenge this morning, me included, are also Radio 4 listeners by definition, so stop dissing your audience!
A few questions you might have asked your guests...
What's the last thing you finished and how many do you have on the go? How many other knitters do you know and what is their average age? How many knitting websites do you read? How much have you spent on yarns this year? How many people have asked you to knit them something after seeing a finished garment? How many people have you taught to knit?
I think you would be amazed at the answers. I have friends who help out at art and craft shows, and the "Learn to knit" areas have been absolutely mobbed by hundreds of young people wanting to learn the craft. Sometimes Granny really does know best.
