You're very late on the bandwagon. Skilled creative fashion knitting has been burgeoning for the last few years led by the big upsurge in the craft in the US, then elsewhere. It's now a massive industry both in pattern publishing and yarn manufacture. But most of this happens in private, in people's homes or in craft groups. The street knitters are just having a bit of fun, and next week it could be basket making, employing some very bright designers
