I think dog's names should be no more than two syllables, so that you can call them quickly when you want them to do (or stop doing) something. Our dog was called 'Billy' when we got him but we thought that, being a Welsh dog, he should have a Welsh name. So we called him 'Guto' (in honour of Guto Harry, of course), From Lindsay Dale.
