Wallace the Airedale, named for William not for Gromit. Names are important to a dog (as to children) they affect its behaviour and peoples attitude towards it. My mother bred dogs; in the 50s when she first registered her kennel name she applied for "Cave canem", she always claimed the Kennel Club rejected the name on the grounds that it is was foreign and they only registered British names.
