"I paint large abstract canvases in my barn studio on a farm, and the radio is my constant companion. Sunday afternoon is particularly good to help make me empty my mind of visual images, Gardeners' Question Time followed by the Sunday serial. Then again Saturday mornings is a must with CD Review. My sketch book gets covered with their recommendations. Radio 4's Start the Week helps get rid of my Monday morning blues and if by Thursday I'm flagging, Melvyn Bragg perks me up again. Hurrah for the radio, sorry TV you just can't compete!"
