 |
 Live at Lock 17: New Year's Day 2004 19:30-22:30
Listen to all the music from the wonderful live concert from Lock 17 (formerly known as Dingwalls). Continuing on the day's UK theme came Salasa Celtica and the live realisation of Terry Hall's musical meeting with British-Asian pioneer Mushtaq. Plus up-and-coming Ladino singer Yasmin Levy from Israel.
Don't miss our new photo gallery capturing the artists on the night.

Salsa Celtica is one of the liveliest bands on the Salsa and world music scene. Bringing together musicians from the UK and Ireland as well all over the Americas, the Scottish band push this unlikely musical marriage to extremes.

Terry Hall and Mushtaq released the album The Hour of Two Lights in 2003 to much critical acclaim. The project features music from all over the Middle East, Europe and the UK, including Polish Gypsies, Algerian rappers, Hebrew vocalists and Blur's Damon Albarn.

Yasmin Levy is one of the youngest and most moving singers of the Judeo-Spanish style, the language of which is Ladino. This little known world music star brings a very different sort of fusion to the evening, mixing languages, rhythms and cultures.
