 Over 1 billion people live in India, the most populated country in the world except for China. |

India loves films and film songs, producing the most films in the world in some of its 18 official languages – that’s a lot of subtitles! |

Mainly a Hindu country, Qawwali music played by Muslims is popular in films and at weddings. Although Indian Muslims are a minority of 12% of the population there are more Muslims in India than in neighbouring Pakistan. |

 In Britain, most families of Indian descent live in Greater London, Glasgow, the Midlands and Cardiff. In Leicester 25 % of the population is of Indian descent. |
