Pubs & Bars Clubs Gigs Record Shops Eats
Eats Updated 11 Oct. All guides written by Kate Youde
In between gigging, drinking and leading the rock 'n' roll lifestyle you'll need to eat - it's a medical fact. As you're going to have to eat you may as well make it a good meal, so to avoid a culinary disaster like the one pictured (right) read on...
Zizzi 10 King Street
Although the high street has been invaded by numerous copycat pizzerias, 'Zizzi' retains a sense of individuality. Their originally flavoured pizzas are freshly prepared and cooked over wood in stone ovens. The varied, reasonably priced menu and lively atmosphere make for an enjoyable dining experience. The service may not be the fastest, but for such quality Italian food, it's definitely worth the wait.
Wagamama Unit G2, The Corner House, Burton Street
A branch of the nationwide chain, this Japanese restaurant offers tasty, healthy meals for those in search of something a bit different. Conveniently situated in the Corner House complex, which is also home to a Warner multiplex, and across the road from the Theatre Royal and Concert Hall, 'Wagamama' is an ideal place to start an evening out. Not the best restaurant for a romantic date as seating takes the form of long tables and benches shared with other customers, but perfect for friends and family. Don't forget to order your complimentary green tea!

Hard Rock Café 11 King Street
Although usually found in more glamorous locations, Hard Rock Café opened its doors to Nottingham at the beginning of the summer. Serving the usual American fare of burgers and chips, chicken and BBQ dishes, it also offers some dangerously devilish deserts and cocktails, although they are a bit on the pricey side. With its abundance of music memorabilia, it is a natural draw for dedicated rockers.

La Dome 13 St Peter's Gate
The salubrious surroundings of 'La Dome', with its high ceilings and chandeliers, are misleading as the food is reasonably priced. Although apparently a French restaurant, there are actually very few authentically Gallic dishes on the menu but don't let this put you off. There is a wide variety of choice and the food is simple yet tasty. A blackboard of plat du jour specials offers greater value for money.
Shimla Pink's 38-46 Goose Gate
Nottingham has its fair share of curry houses but 'Shimla Pink's' stands out from the crowd due to its efforts to spice up Britain's favourite cuisine. Catering for the more sophisticated palate, their innovative dishes have replaced the likes of the traditional Tikka Massala with other authentic healthier alternatives. A modern update on an old favourite, but don't expect to pay traditional prices.
