**** First of 4 Extra’s carefully-woven collection to mark The Bayeux Tapestry being on display at London’s British Museum until Summer 2027.

A dramatic chronicle telling of the invasion of England by the Norman Duke William, and of the tragic end of Harold, last of the Saxon Kings, as recorded in the famous tapestry.

The story is told scene-by-scene as embroidered in nine linen panels sewn together making up the tapestry.

It’s believed to have been created here nearly 1,000 years ago.

First broadcast by the BBC during the Second World War.
