When we describe objects we need to remember 2 things:
1) In Welsh the adjective comes after the noun. For example, red car - car coch
2) All nouns are either feminine or masculine.

If the object described is feminine the adjective that follows it mutates. It is a soft mutation; here's how the letters change:

t > d,
c > g,
p > b,
b > f,
g > letter is dropped,
ll > l,
m > f,
rh > r.

MasculineFeminine

Trowsus cochSgert goch
Jîns glasFfrog las
Tei pincSgert binc
Sgarff porfforHet borffor
Trons llwydEsgid lwyd
Fest brownManeg frown

  • If the adjective follows a plural it doesn't mutate:
We say esgid goch (red shoe)
    but esgidiau coch (red shoes)
