Court grant Blessing CEO bail afta cancer controversy

Federal High Court for Lagos Nigeria don grant bail to celebrity social media influencer Blessing CEO to di tune of 10 million naira ($7,349) and two sureties.

Justice D.I. Dipeolu give di ruling on Tuesday wen di case come up in court.

Blessing CEO wey her real name na Blessing Nkiruka Okoro appear for court wear long black gown and black trouser.

Her lawyer Nneka Nkama bin appeal to di court to allow her to dey enjoy di administrative bail she bin dey on and keep her for EFCC custody till she perfect her bail.

But di lawyer to di EFCC Suleiman Suleiman object to di appeal, say dem no get space to accommodate am for dia custody as di place dey filled.

Di judge rule make dem keep am for correctional facility pending wen she go perfect di bail conditions.

Di judge adjourn di case to 22nd June 2026 for continuation of di trial.

Afta di sitting, her lawyer tell BBC Pidgin her client dey alright and dem dey put efforts together to perfect her bail conditions so she fit go home on Tuesday.

Blessing CEO dey stand trial on two-count charges for case wey border on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing to the tune of 36 million naira.

Blessing CEO plead not guilty to both charges even as her lawyer, PI Nwafor tell di court say she don pay part of di money back to di woman and ask di court to comot di case wen dem don pay fully.

E say, "We get application to make. Di defendant go meet di nominal complainant and give am 24 million naira out of di 36 million naira and we dey ask for court adjournment so we go fit arrange di remaining money to pay back. Di nominal complaint tok say if we pay di money back, she go ask EFCC make e drop di case against am."

Bifor di incident, Blessing CEO don publicly declare say she get stage 4 cancer and many Nigerians don ask EFCC make dem prosecute am for making false claim say she get cancer and receive monetary donations from Nigerians.
