This was the second sprung dancing floor in Nottinghamshire.
(No-one knows where the first one was).
The beautifully proportioned ballroom is a replica of the ballroom
at the Palace of Versailles.
The ballrooom also serves as a banqueting or reception hall for large
civic occasions.
Its seven tall windows open onto the terrace overlooking the Old Market
Square.
The large pillars are actually hollow - and are used as ventilation
shafts.
