Marble Arch Caves

Children's hand drawn picture of Marble Arch Caves

The following text was hand-written beside this poster....

Marble Arch caves is like a world of fantasy with its stalactites and stalagmites, flow stones etc.

It is quite easy to get to the caves for the first time. The simplest route would be to go through Enniskillen, follow the A4 for three miles and branching off on the A32. From there the caves are well signposted. This fascinating underground trip shall take about one and a quarter to one and a half hours leaving enough time in the day to go to some other lovely places like Florence court forest, Lough Navar forest, or a cruise on Lough Erne. The site has lots of facilities with a car and coach park, souvenir, toilets and a refreshment shop. You can make special arrangements for coach outings, school trips and special interest parties.

The above was written in 1985 but no doubt the details still hold true today.

In case you find the above writing hard to read on your browser, here is a transcript...

Did you know... Enniskillen was sold for £500 during the civil war between Charles 1st and Cromwell.

Enniskillen is the only town in the British Isles to have raised two regiments for the British army.

Wellington praised their bravery at Waterloo and one of the four soldiers guarding his statue in London is an Inniskilling.

The regiment also won 8 Victoria Crosses, mostly in the 1st World War.

Well personaly I absolutley love the Marble arch Caves. They inspire me so much. I myself am from Australia but I visit my family and friends in Fermanagh. Every time I come over I visit the caves for a couple of hours.
