- 1961: The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by Prince Charles and Princess Anne, landed at Carrickfergus from the Royal Yacht, Britannia. This maintained the regal connections of the town and castle. In the same visit they also went to Greenisland Hospital, Harland & Wolff, ICT, Belfast, Holywood and Bangor.

- 1966: The Queen and Prince Philip visited Belfast and opened the new "Queen Elizabeth II bridge". There had been a long-running wrangle over the name of the new bridge. The Belfast councillors had originally wanted it to be called "Carson's Bridge". The issue was finally resolved by calling it the "Queen Elizabeth II Bridge" It was on this visit that a brick was dropped from a high building onto the bonnet of the Royal car. Also a bottle was thrown at the car in Royal Avenue by a woman onlooker.

- 1977: (Silver Jubilee visit) The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visited the New University of Ulster at Coleraine. The Royal yacht Britannia anchored off Portrush.

- 1991: The Queen visited the U.D.R. and held a garden party at Hillsborough.
- 1993: The Queen attended a garden party at Hillsborough.
- 1995: The Queen opened a new cross-harbour Lagan Bridge (M3). In the same visit she also visited Armagh for a "city-status" ceremony and opened a new school. Then at Hillsborough held an investiture ceremony.
- 1997: The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh went to Dungannon and met school children involved in a cross-community project. They also attended a garden party at Hillsborough Castle.
- 2000: The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Belfast and Hillsborough.
- 2001: The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited the Maydown Ebrington Centre in Londonderry, opened new council HQ at the Lagan Valley Island complex in Lisburn and visited the Ferguson linen factory in Banbridge.
