110,114 children and young people aged eight to 18 as well as 3,000 parents and carers of children aged five to 18.
Listening to podcasts came out on top, with almost half of the children asked saying that's what they like to listen to.
The study authors also claim that listening to audio benefits your wellbeing, confidence and can even help you bond with your family members.
Jonathan Douglas, Chief Executive of the National Literacy Trust, said "Today's research shows that audio is much more than an alternative to print. It is another powerful route into stories, knowledge, and reading for enjoyment."
