Lionel Messi hat-trick

Argentina are the current world champions, having won the previous tournament which took place in Qatar in 2022.
But will the South American nation be able to retain the trophy this year?
They got their World Cup off to a winning start with a 3-0 victory over Algeria, and it was all thanks to one man - Lionel Messi, of course!
At the age of 38, he claimed his first World Cup hat-trick.
The result meant that he has now scored a record-equalling 16 World Cup goals.
And that's not the only record Messi set on the night.
He also became the first player in history to feature at six different men's World Cups.
Mbappé goalscoring record

France had a tough opening match against Senegal, who made the final of the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
After a goalless first half, both teams knew it was all to play for in the second half.
But after the break, the game changed completely.
Kylian Mbappé scores twice to become France's all-time leading scorer.
Mbappé's opener moved him level with France legend Olivier Giroud on 57 goals, before the Real Madrid striker netted a stunning second goal to move clear at the top of France's all-time scoring list.
The game finished 3-1 to France, with Bradley Barcola also scoring for Les Bleus, as well as PSG's Ibrahim Mbaye on target for Senegal.
Haaland's first World Cup

Twenty-eight years after their last men's World Cup appearance, Norway are back.
And all eyes were on one man - Erling Haaland.
The Manchester City is known for breaking records at club level, and is also Norway's all-time top scorer too.
So, how did his first-ever World Cup game against Iraq go?
Haaland scored twice on his debut for Norway, helping them to a 4-1 win.
The striker has now netted 57 goals in 51 international appearances for his country.
