A vehicle involved in a crash on the M6 Toll earlier struck an overhead sign gantry before ending up on the wrong wide of a crash barrier.

Despite "significant damage" to the car, the ambulance service said the driver was able to get out of the car, and suffered only a number of small cuts.

The 39-year-old woman was taken to hospital as a precaution after the collision just before junction T1 at Coleshill around 09:05.

The Save Coventry Speedway campaign have confirmed a fifth challenge meeting for the Coventry Bees riders. 

They'll race at Rye House on Saturday 6 May. 

The Bees were thrown out of the Premiership for this season and owner Mick Horton has had his license frozen after being unable to secure Brandon as a home venue.

The mechanism on the Lady Godiva clock in Coventry has malfunctioned, meaning Tom is stuck in a peeping position and the lady is no longer riding her horse. 

Coventry council tells us it's investigating the fault.

The clock, which depicts the story of Peeping Tom spying on Lady Godiva’s naked ride on a horse through the city, is located in the grade II listed Broadgate House.  

Artist Trevor Tennant carved the wooden figures for the clock, which was installed in the 1950s as part of the redevelopment of Broadgate.

The six miles of missing track would link Stratford-upon-Avon with Long Marston which, campaigners say, could help ease congestion and improve links to London and Birmingham.

Fraser Pithie, from the  Shakespeare Line Promotion Group, external  said  a consultation on Stratford's future transport needs, external , which ends today, ignores the potential benefits of reinstating the line.

The councillor in charge of transport in Warwickshire, Peter Butlin, said the re-opening of the line would cost around £100m and isn't something they could consider without the support of central government and Network Rail.

Flowers have been placed at the foot of a flag at half-mast outside Coventry Central police station, in Little Park Street.

They were passed to officers by a member of the public in remembrance of PC Keith Palmer and others who lost their lives yesterday.

Police are appealing for help in their hunt for 16 men, external wanted in connection with dozens of burglaries across the West Midlands.

Five turtles found abandoned at the side of a busy road are now in the care of a specialist exotics centre after being collected by the RSPCA.

The four common musk turtles and one map turtle were discovered last week in a plastic box on Daventry Road, Barby, near Rugby.

The RSPCA said it was "extremely concerned" about the number of abandoned reptiles, with 1,700 similar animals being rescued by the organisation last year.

A police investigation is underway, external into an aggravated burglary in Nuneaton in which cash and a mobile phone were stolen. 

Two men, described as white men in their twenties, entered the property in Tyran Road on Tuesday. 

An altercation followed, in which one of the occupants was struck with what's believed to be a hammer, before the offenders made off with a jar of money and a mobile phone. 

Police are appealing for more information.

Conservative MP for Stratford-on-Avon Nadhim Zahawi said the fact parliamentary sessions would go ahead as planned today was a sign London would not give in to fear.

Following a minute's silence this morning, MPs have resumed the usual business of the day.  

"I would say the best way we defeat these evil-doers, these terrorists and their supporters is by demonstrating that life - as the prime minister said - will go on today, Parliament will sit, both houses will sit, there's one in the Commons and the Lords.

"And the best way we can defeat them is to demonstrate that they cannot damage our democracy and the mother of parliaments."

Members of the public have been reminded by police the security threat level nationally remains unchanged at "severe", meaning an attack is "highly likely".

The West Midlands force has asked residents to "remain alert and not alarmed". 

It said concerns should be reported to a confidential anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.

University of Warwick press officer Luke Walton was walking down Whitehall towards Westminster Bridge when the attack happened.

He said had been turned away from the bridge by an officer, moments after the incident

"It was very scary. All the emergency services were there, there were helicopters, police and ambulance.

"I moved away and crossed the river over another bridge where I could see the pandemonium that was happening there.

"There were lots of scared faces as well. It only really started to quieten down when I was a good mile away on foot."
