    York City are expecting thousands of fans at their home stadium this evening.

    The club says tickets for the event are selling fast - with more than 1,600 sold in the first hour.

    Tickets cost £1 with the money going towards an admin fee and a donation to Yorkshire children's cancer charity Candlelighters Trust.

    I was outside the stadium about 90 minutes before the gates opened at 18:30 speaking to fans who were already queueing up for what promises to be an evening to remember.

    One man had been at Rochdale but was forced to leave the celebrations early due to work commitments.

    He spoke about his pride at how the club had evolved both off and on the pitch: "The club is coming together - it's like a big community now.

    "Everybody is really driven - we are just looking forward now. I can't wait until next season!"

    "It means everything," he adds.
