Norfolk County Council has been one of Reform UK’s target councils and polls suggest it could very well take control.

That would be a major change for an authority that has been led by the Conservatives for most of its existence.

Labour and the Liberal Democrats have been battling to hold onto their current seats and both parties have said they are willing to be part of a coalition.

So have the Greens who – with a recent bounce in the polls nationally – are looking to add to their number.

While only contesting nine seats, it will be interesting to see what impact Rupert Lowe MP's Great Yarmouth First has in these elections and whether independent candidates in the west of the county can hold onto theirs.

When the last elections took place in 2021, the results were:

    • Conservatives: 58
    • Labour: 11
    • Liberal Democrat: 8
    • Green: 3
    • Independents and others: 3
