Phone fraud victim: 'I thought I was sensible'

Pat Bottomley was a victim of a phone scam.

A caller, claiming to be a policeman in London, told her that her son had been arrested and had provided information on a gang of criminals.

Despite her initial misgivings, she was convinced to transfer two payments of ÂŁ4,500 and one payment of ÂŁ800, which the scammer told her would help police arrest their suspect.

She says the scam has left her feeling "stupid" and "terrified of the phone".
