Suzanne
Batty from the A6 Poets says, "Poetry needs to keep up to date
in the areas where people are and most people live in cities now
so to write about the urban environment is the way to go with poetry.

"I
think poetry increases people's confidence and
encourages people to express how they feel about things. So I think
that personally it's good for people who get involved in the project.
"We
also wanted to raise the profile of the area, the good things and
the bad things and what they like and dislike about the area and
things that happen to them here."
The
A6 Poets have regular workshops in the area that are open to everyone
where they've written before or not. At the end of their project
they hope to publish a anthology of the best poems.
