Last
august I received a call from the local paper asking to comment
on some crop circles that had appeared in a wheat field near Lincoln
road in Branston a village 5 miles from the cathedral city of Lincoln.
I was a bit dubious about commenting on the subject basically because
I have until then never really studied the subject to the same degree
I have with UFOs.
There is a lot of hoaxing that goes on which ruins any chance of
serious study. I decided to comment but would try not to be too
extreme in what I said as I did not want my words being twisted
into representing me as someone who believed every crop circle was
the work of aliens. As I think people have a lot of misconceptions
on the people who study UFOs.
As it was what I said and what appeared was selective to say the
least.
On the Monday after the story appeared I managed to do some digging
and found out that it was the work of local hoaxs, I contacted
the local paper to inform them it was a hoax the next day they ran
the story.
I believe
that it is important we weed out these hoaxs. If you take
time to read into the subject then you will find that those who
have studied crop circles have found out some very interesting
data indeed. So to be taken seriously we have to prove that we are
not starry-eyed believers we can distinguish between what is real
and what is not.
A few weeks later whilst taking my dog for a walk or was it the
other way round.
I noticed three crop circles in a wheat field; I then had a quick
look then headed home to get my camera. They where not perfect in
any way but they where in a line heading south, could it have been
north no because all of the stems where flattened towards the south,
the stems were not broken but bent at the bottom (see photo) there
was no swirling as is in common with most circles just laid out
flat facing south.
The circles were approx. 30 feet in diameter all three in a row.
There was no man made damage to the crops broken stems leading to
the circles. The ground was rather dry so there was no way to check
for footprints.
Was it raining that had caused this? I doubt this, as normally whole
areas of fields are flattened not three circles in a row. As the
picture of the field demonstrates there was no other damage to the
field. So if it was not aliens, rain or hoax.
What was it? My personal opinion was that it was some kind of weather
based phenomena.
Unless anyone out there can inform me otherwise.
