About the author
Dr Dan Todman teaches modern British history at Queen Mary, University of London. He has written on structures of command in the British Expeditionary Force and the memory of World War One, and he co-edited the diaries of Field Marshal Lord Alanbrooke. His next project is a wide-ranging history of Britain in World War Two.
