We did the short walk on Easter Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. We have lived in Gloucester for over 25 years and found it exciting to have our attention drawn to geological fascinations that we would have never noticed. Particularly keen on the museum vug. A decent selection of pubs to pop in to on route! Thanks!

In response to Bill's question: As far as we know no evidence of the original castle exists on the surface. There may well be evidence under the surface, but we don't advise digging near the prison as it may be frowned upon!

Is there any further information about the prison area? I believe it was the site of the original castle and wonder whether any evidence of its previous history can be seen.

8th October 2004. On parts of this walk (section 7) you will currently come across major works related to the construction of the new Gloucester bypass, and the maintenance of underground cables. Please take care. Countryside Ranger, Gloucester City Council, 01452 303206
