    Pickett v Vera

Brad Pickett takes on Marlon Vera for his retirement bout, but the fight will be held at a catchweight of 140lbs, rather than Pickett's natural 135lbs.

  7. Bye Bradpublished at 21:39 GMT 18 March 2017

It's been quite the career for Brad 'One Punch' Pickett, since first stepping into the world of MMA in 2004.

With Dan Hardy and Mike Bisping, he was at the forefront of British MMA, paving the way for a whole generation of fighters.

Originally making his name in Cage Rage, he quickly found himself in demand with promotions around the world, before joining WEC ahead of its merger with UFC - where he would land four fight-of-the-night bonuses in his first five bouts, and find a fan in Dana White.

A move to flyweight didn't work out, and with five losses in his last six fights, the 38-year-old announced tonight would be his final appearance before retirement, after a dynamic career that ensured he will be remembered as a fan favourite.

"I do think it’s the right time for me to walk away from the sport," he said this week, external

BBC Three caught up with him, and a furry friend, ahead of his retirement bout.

A small crowd of Finnish fans chant “Makwan, Makwan” for five minutes straight throughout that first round and they don't show any signs of slowing down as the second round begins, and they're still the loudest inside the arena.
