The Year In Drama: February 2002

'Smallpox 2002: Silent Weapon'This month saw the broadcast of Smallpox 2002: Silent Weapon. The first of several drama-documentaries in 2002, it mixed fact with fiction to show how a single act of bioterrorism could lead to terrifying consequences. The programme provoked a strong response from viewers, with comments ranging from "Far too lifelike for my taste" to "Disturbingly realistic" to "I was reduced to tears more than once".

Other one-off dramas included Night Flight, where the past returned to haunt two World War II veterans played by Edward Woodward and Christopher Plummer, and As The Beast Sleeps, an intense portrayal of a loyalist community.

Meanwhile, Clocking Off
returned for a third series, with guest star Phil Cornwell joining us for a live chat. And Daniela Nardini starred as a forensic psychiatrist, alongside Leslie Phillips as her mysterious guru Hal, in new crime drama Outside The Rules.
