Mention
the Dark or White Peak and most people will have in mind the areas
within the boundaries of the Peak District National Park.
However that boundary is a man-made line and there are some fine
walks to be had outside these areas.
The rolling hills and wooded valleys around Chesterfield is a largely
undiscovered jewel and South Derbyshire boasts the lowlands of the
Trent Valley.
Both areas deserve more attention from walkers as a way of reducing
the pressure on the Peak District National Park and because they
offer some superb walking in their own right.
