Crooklets
Beach,
in Bude is also suitable for beginners to intermediates. In 'town'
you are spoilt for choice for rideable waves.
At low tide the beach stretches from Summerleaze to Northcott Mouth
with rideable waves all the way along its length. The further north
you head, the thinner the crowds.
A big draw though is the right-hander that breaks before and just
after low tide at Wrangles Rock. It’s a hollow wave that can provide
a cover-up or two. At high tide there is the infamous shore break
in front of the Bude Surf Livesaving Club to wash away the cobwebs.
Can be surfed up to 6ft and the best winds are from the south east
or east. Sheltered at high tide from a north / north westerly. To
the south, in front of the harbour, a long left hander breaks off
Barrel Rock.
As the tide pushes in a short right comes into play at Cross Rocks,
which can be clean in a strong south westerly. Paddle out off the
outdoor swimming pool.
Very popular beach because of its close location to Bude town centre.
Good parking and facilities, including plenty of surf shops to gain
some inspiration.
