Hello there. I’m Darrell Rivers and I’ve just started attending Malory Towers. Will you be my pen pal? I’ll write to you each week and it would be lovely to have you write back.

The ghost is\u2026EMILY!!! Well, she\u2019s not a ghost but that\u2019s who everyone was seeing in the hooded cloak walking through the corridors at night. Emily was going to the San through a secret passage to help Margaret (her mother!!!) with the darning because she has\u00A0artheritus\u00A0sore hands. Well, Matron caught us all in the San where the secret was revealed \u2013 and Matron was going to fire her!!! I couldn\u2019t let this happen \u2013 Emily was angry with me, saying I should\u00A0have\u00A0minded my own busyness, which I\u00A0suppose\u00A0I still haven\u2019t learnt\u00A0to do. Emily, Sally, Gwen and I went to Miss Grayling\u2019s\u00A0study\u00A0to explain how ghastly Matron was being. Yes, I thought Gwen would be good to have there as she usually favours\u00A0Matron, so her voice might have meant more\u2026although we only got a shrug out of her. We explained how Matron got it wrong when Sally was ill, didn\u2019t take Mary-Lou\u2019s fainting seriosly\u00A0and was getting Margaret to\u00A0do all her personal darning! No wonder she needed help to get it all done. I\u2019m so glad all the secrets are out \u2013 because Margaret is staying on as Matron of South Tower\u00A0-\u00A0and Emily doesn\u2019t have to pretend to be a\u00A0ghost any more! Have you ever pretended to be someone else?

My reply to your letters

Dear freinds (msp), You all can\u2019t beleive (msp) the ghost was Emily! I couldn\u2019t either! That secret passage at night was scary and I\u2019m quite glad it was Emily rather than a real ghost! Not that I beleive (msp) in those of course\u2026 A lot of you have pretended to be someone else but in a fun way, like acting in plays or dressing up for parties. Quite right, there is no need to pretend to be someone else in any other way. Be yourself, and love being yourself! I\u2019m going to make the most of the final days of term at Malory Towers \u2013 so sad it\u2019s nearly over.
