Darrell’s Letters – Week Three

Hello there. I’m Darrell Rivers and I’ve just started attending Malory Towers. Will you be my pen pal? I’ll write to you each week and it would be lovely to have you write back.

Darrells letter reads - I\u2019ve started getting into a bit of trouble at Malory Towers. It all started off fun and games, making the others girls giddy with larfter luaghter in our French lesson. I also managed to outwit Matron when she nearly made us report to Miss Grayling!...but then I got a telling off from Miss Potts. She said that I failed my history project and shouldn\u2019t be going around playing tricks with Alicia. I feel like I\u2019m trying so hard to keep up with the clever girls but Miss Potts said I have buckets of potentiel and need to give it all I\u2019ve got. I think I should listen to her. Alicia said she could see us being best friends, which is wonderful but then just as she said that, another girl, Betty, returned to Malory Towers and Alicia seems to favour her. I don\u2019t want green eyes (like Gwen!) but making and keeping friends is as hard a task as a history project. Still, I have to admit, that French lesson was really funny! What makes you laugh?.

Text reads- Dear Freinds (msp), Many of you say your freinds (msp) and siblings make you laugh, which is wonderful to hear. And it really makes me miss my little sister, Felicity. I wonder if she will ever attend Malory Towers? Jokes are funny too, like some of you have mentioned. I know a lot of doctor doctor jokes which I tease my father with! Some of you even said that your teachers make you laugh with songs and dances \u2013 I just can\u2019t imagine teachers at Malory Towers doing that. That reminds me, I had better get back to my English prep so I don\u2019t let Miss Potts down, although it does look lovely outside\u2026 Oh, and thank you for sharing your expereinces (msp) of jealousy, it makes me feel somewhat better about everything with Alicia.
