Hello there. I’m Darrell Rivers and I’ve just started attending Malory Towers. Will you be my pen pal? I’ll write to you each week and it would be lovely to have you write back.

As far as midnight feasts go, that was an eventful one! Alicia was sent a hamper full of treats for her birthday and arranged a North Tower midnight feast. Matron unfairly\u00A0confussc\u00A0took the hamper, so I hatched a plan to get the goodies back. Thanks to Jean, Alicia and Irene (surprisingly!), we got the treats and the girls could still have their feast. Well,\u00A0Alicia\u00A0convinced me to go too, even though I needed to rest for the big exam. I must admit, the crunchy caramels were delishous. We made too much noise though,\u00A0and\u00A0Matron\u00A0heard us,\u00A0so\u00A0I made us all hide in the first place I could find\u2026Miss Grayling's\u00A0study! \u00A0I found the answers to the first form exam at her desk but cheating is vile so I put it straight back. By the time we all got back to bed it was\u00A0half past three in the morning! My brain was going to be scrambled for the exam so I was pretty upset. The next day, Miss Potts knew we had been in Miss Grayling\u2019s\u00A0study\u00A0and said that she would cancel\u00A0Parents\u2019\u00A0Open Day if no one admitted to being there and looking at the exam answers! I knew what I had to do. I told Miss Potts that I had been in the office but didn\u2019t look at the answers \u2013 I said I was there alone because there was no reason to get the others\u00A0in trouble. They were all listening at the door though, and burst in, all owning up to being there too! The girls\u2019 honesty and loyalty impressed Miss Potts and thankfully Open Day was not cancelled. We celebrated with a\u00A0midday\u00A0feast this time! Have you ever owned up to something you did wrong?

My reply to your letters

Dear Freinds (msp), Thank you for being so honest with me about what you have owned up to. It may be that you did something selfish, like eating treats you shouldn\u2019t have, or you\u2019ve lied to your freinds (msp) or family about things. Some of you have even cheated on exams. But what\u2019s really impressive is that you all saw it was wrong and you owned up! You told the truth! And all you can do is learn from those mistakes. A fair few of you have admitted to cutting your own hair too \u2013 you don\u2019t really need to own up to that with words, the hair rather gives it away! There is this one thing I\u2019m dreading, my exam results. If they are bad, I\u2019m not sure I can face telling my parents\u2026 even though I know owning up would be the right thing to do!
