The sun sets over Pontefract Castle

Ever been on the lookout for ghosts and ghouls? Well the webteam have! We decided to take a look round Pontefract Castle to see if we could find any - after all it's seen its fair share of nasty deeds over the past few centuries - including the murder of King Richard II and loads of executions!

We went along to the Castle one October evening just before Halloween to find out what secrets might be hidden in its ancient stones.

As night fell, armed only with a candle, we explored the remains of the castle with its custodian Steve Coulson and, conquering our fears (sort of!), the team went underground into the magazine where marks made by prisoners over 400 years ago can still be seen.

Scary stuff...but we didn't find any ghosts!
