We've had the first widespread frosts of the autumn recently; near Llanwrtyd in Powys the temperature dropped as low as -4 Celsius last night with a few freezing fog patches as well.

It was fine and dry yesterday thanks to a ridge of high pressure with Hawarden enjoying over 5 hours of sunshine. Temperatures have struggled in mid and south Wales today with low pressure bringing some rain, a little sleet, and even some snow on Pen y Fan. Meanwhile Anglesey was one of the warmest places in the UK today with hazy sunshine and a high of 11 Celsius.
Tonight rain will spread further north, appearing as snow on Snowdon and it will turn misty with hill fog. Temperatures though will stay above freezing everywhere so no frost is expected.
Tomorrow will be dull, damp and murky for most of the country with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Some very poor visibility is likely, appearing on higher ground as fog but during the afternoon drier weather should spread from the southwest. Top temperatures will reach 5 to 9 Celsius; a little higher than today but in the northwest it will be a little cooler with a light breeze.

On Thursday most of the country should be dry with mist and fog patches slowly lifting. Some places will stay grey into the afternoon but others will brighten-up; the best of the sunshine is likely in parts of the north and west with a high of 9 Celsius in Chepstow and 8 Celsius in Caernarfon.
