The Pulteney dish is part of a service made for William Pulteney, who was created Earl of Bath in 1742. His coat of arms, pictured on this dish, can still be seen above the central building on Pulteney Street in Bath. This piece is the highlight of the Museum's armorial porcelain collection, which focuses on prominent Bath and Somerset families. It holds a significant place in the local history of Bath and the surrounding region.
