The Fashion Museum has an exceptional corset collection. Visitors can try on reproduction corsets and crinolines in a unique hands-on display at the Museum. This corset dates from the end of the 18th century, around about the 1780s. It was probably made by a professional staymaker. The corset laces together at the back, with no fastening at all at the front. This gives the smooth curved line typical of late 18th century fashions.
