Waggons were drawn by horses and used by farmers to transport heavy goods and hay, corn etc.
This waggon was built around 1870 by Messrs Pearcey of Payhembury for James Rossier of Benets Hayes, Awliscombe. The floral motifs are a characterictic feature of East Devon waggons.
This waggon is known as a cockrave because of the way the raves ride over the wheels. There are very few known surviving examples of this type of waggon.
